Synapse Engineering introduces the updated production kit for the BMW N54 135i/335i/535i engine package.  The kit includes all components needed for a bolt-on application.  The kit also clears the factory intake airbox.

Part #: SB001A.KIT001
MSRP:  $549.00 USD
Available Finishes:  Polished Aluminum & Powder Coated Black

Updated design elements include the following:

  • Zero weld, CNC mandrel-bent, aerospace grade Aluminum tubing
  • Relocated BOV location closer to the throttle body for improved performance and better clearance
  • Material change to lightweight, aerospace grade Aluminum 6061 in annealed condition for much improved thermal conductivity
  • Reduction of Silicone coupler surface area for maximized charge velocity
  • Billet CNC machined air temp sensor adapter welded directly onto charge pipe
  • T-bolt clamps now included with the kit
  • Alternative finishes now available in polished Aluminum and powder coated black
  • Engineered mounting bracket reduces vibration for overall assembly

Pictured here is the new kit and components.

Bead-rolled charge piping so pipes will not blow-off with increased pressure

Engineered bracket mounts to engine so that charge piping & BOV move in unison with engine under all conditions

Billet CNC machined air temp sensor adapter welded directly onto charge pipe

No-Weld, CNC mandrel-bent, aerospace-grade aluminum tubing.  As much as all fabricators, including us, try to eliminate stepped transitions with cut & weld piping, it is sometimes inevitable.

I have read that the BOV is different from the standard SB001 BOV? Does that mean I cannot just order the pipes and fitting? Would I still be able to use back my standard SB001 which I have bought?

Quote

"The 335i Kit Specific BOV is specially prepared for ease of installation on the 335i.
The external hook up of port c has been deleted, instead port c has been built in
internally into the BOV so that it is now not necessary for you to tap a boost
source on your system.
The BOV functions normally as compared to a BOV that would have an external port c,
so the same responsiveness that the BOV had/have still exists in this current design.
The reason our BOV is more responsive than a Tial or HKS is because our BOV does not
have a Diaphragm it has a piston. Ports A & B are to be hooked up to a vacuum source
what ever the throttle plate is doing the BOV is going to mimic in real time so under
vacuum/idle the BOV is open, but under boost/acceleration that boost PSI that is present
in the manifold is going to keep that piston closed but as soon as the thottle plate shuts
i.e. foot off the gas pedal vacuum is present and the BOV opens those excess boost PSI in the
pipe going to the BOV and to the internal port c opens the BOV. Now if you take a look at port A,
port A has a smaller piston surface area than port B (say about 35% for port A) so vacuum will
make the BOV react slower than if just B were to be used. "
